Over 170 investment projects are planned to be implemented in the Minsk region in 2018, Anatoly Isachenko, chairman of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee, said in an interview with the newspaper "SB Belarus Today."

"Over 170 investment projects are planned for implementation in 2018. We plan to attract $ 195 million of direct foreign investments," the chairman of the regional executive committee said. So, one of the largest projects of the year will be the construction of the Nezhinsky ore mining and processing enterprise in the Lubansk region with the erection of residential buildings. It is already being implemented by the Slavkali IO on the basis of the Starobinsky potassium salt deposit. An equally ambitious project is the construction of an agro-industrial complex near Rudensk in the Pukhovichi District. "A package of agreements with the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation (BNBK) has already been signed, and in the near future I think the project will start, and this is primarily new jobs and wages for hundreds of workers." He recalled that the Minsk region is leading the country in a number of indicators of investment activity. For example, 670 investment contracts were concluded, more than in other regions. There are actively developing such investment sites as the Sino-Belarusian industrial park "Great Stone", FEZ "Minsk", SZOO "BELDZHI", etc.

In continuation of the topic, the governor touched upon employment issues and creation of new jobs. According to him, systemic work in this direction has allowed achieving certain results. For example, for 7 quarters of last year 7,147 people were employed for newly created jobs. Including 4145 people - for new enterprises, and for additional jobs in the operating industries - 3002 people. More than 70% of new jobs are created in the sphere of trade and services, about 11% in construction, more than 10% in industrial production.

As of December 1, 2017, the region had more than 9 thousand vacancies. And for one vacancy there were less than one unemployed. A total of 23,800 people were employed last year, of which 14,800 were unemployed. The region's employers, for example, such a specialty as the chief veterinarian, remain in demand. Today there are 933 vacancies. There are also 466 car driver vacancies, 341 doctor's vacancies. Anatoly Isachenko also noted the growth of wages in the region. "According to the results of 2017, the exact statistics will be later, and for 11 months the nominal accrued wages amounted to almost Br805. Real wages in comparison with the level of 2016 increased by 5.6%," he stated.

Minsk region on January 15 will celebrate its 80th anniversary. Over the past seven years, it has been the country's leading position on the growth of the gross regional product. The region's share in the country's GDP is about 15%. The central region is the largest in the country by area - 39.9 thousand square kilometers. The population exceeds 1.42 million people.
