Minsk region is capable of doubling the pace of development - Russy

Tuesday, 16 January 2018

Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusy is convinced that the Minsk region is capable of doubling the pace of social and economic development in the next two decades. He stated this today to journalists during solemn events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the formation of the region, BelTA has learned.

The Vice Premier wished the Minsk region not only to maintain high results of development in various spheres on the level achieved in recent history, but also to increase them. "In the next 5-20 years the Minsk region is capable of doubling the available indicators, which is generally realistic, taking into account the personnel potential," said Mikhail Rusy.

According to him, the pace with which the Minsk region was completed in 2016 and 2017, as well as the pace of January 2018, indicate that the region is on the right track. As for the agro-industrial complex, here a serious base is laid for a new crop. In particular, agrarians have accumulated and introduced more fertilizers into the soil than in the previous agricultural year.

Mikhail Rusy also drew attention to the fact that some of the main flagships of the industry are located in the Minsk region, but they also contribute to the development of other regions. This shows an example of the development of a site for the extraction of potash fertilizers in the Petrikovsky district of the Gomel region. "Investments" Belaruskali "- one of the serious experiences of investment capital not only in the framework of one area, but also out of it," the Deputy Prime Minister stated.

Minsk region was formed on January 15, 1938. The decision was made at the first session of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. The process of administrative-territorial structure of the region was long and ended in the 1960s, when the existing regions were finally formed. The central region is the largest in the country by area - 39.9 thousand square kilometers. The population exceeds 1.42 million people.
