Measures to prevent noncommunicable diseases will be held in pharmacies and enterprises of Minsk on September 19, BelTA learned from the city's Health Center.

Minskers will be able to measure blood pressure, height, weight, fill out questionnaires on the early detection of cardiovascular diseases, take memos, booklets on the topic of a healthy lifestyle. Doctors will hold individual consultations. The project was joined by RUE "Belpochta", OJSC "MPZ", OJSC "Minskstroy", administration of Pervomaisky district, pharmacies №81, №62, №88 and №25 of RUE "Belpharmacy".

As explained in the Center for Health, almost two-thirds (63%) of all deaths are due to cardiovascular diseases. Despite the fact that 45% of the adult population of the country suffers from arterial hypertension, more than half do not take antihypertensive drugs. In addition, 48% of men use tobacco, every fourth resident is obese.

The preventive project was launched in Minsk in February this year, the shares are held every first Wednesday of the month in hypermarkets and supermarkets, every third Wednesday in the pharmacy network and in industrial enterprises. During this time, more than 2.8 thousand events were held, which were visited by more than 182,3 thousand people. Almost 92% of them completed the questionnaire for assessing the state of health. About 70% of respondents noted characteristic signs of risk.

Non-infectious diseases include cardiovascular, oncological, chronic respiratory diseases, diabetes, mental disorders. There are several risk factors that increase the likelihood of their chronic forms. With age, the risk of cardiovascular disease increases. Doctors recommend to pay close attention to their health to those whose immediate relatives suffered a myocardial infarction or stroke (men under 55, women up to 65). In men, heart attacks and strokes on average develop 10 years earlier than women. At the same time, you can prolong your life if you do not smoke, eat properly, move more, get rid of excess weight, normalize blood pressure, control the level of cholesterol, blood sugar.

The organizers of the action are the City Health Center, the Minsk City Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology, the Health Committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee.
