Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences will hold open doors on January 21-31

The Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus from January 21 to 31 holds open doors during festivities dedicated to the Day of Belarusian Science, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Academy of Sciences.

Visitors will be able to familiarize themselves with the history of the library, its information resources and services, as well as with rare editions presented at the exhibition "Three Navovian Skins". The exposition consists of Western European and Russian scientific publications of the XVII-XVIII centuries in physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology, medicine, geography and other subjects from the collection of the department of rare books and manuscripts of the library. Among the most valuable exhibits is the famous treatise "The Great Mastery of Artillery" (1676) by a military engineer and theorist of artillery from the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Kazimir Semenovich, the lifetime publication of the Swedish naturalist Karl Linnaeus "Plant Birth" (1764), "Ancient Russian History" (1766) Volfian Experimental Physics (1760), one of the volumes of the 12-volume History of Poland (1711) by Jan Dlugosh, Description of the Land of Kamchatka (1786), Russian geographer of the first half of the XVIII century Stepa and Krasheninnikov.

A book exhibition dedicated to the Belarusian natural scientist, inventor of electrography and wireless transmission of electrical signals Jacob Narkevich-Iodko will be on display at the exhibition center, "I hope that my work will bring my modest contribution to science over time ...".

There will also be a film screening of documentary popular science films from the International Science Around Us Foundation, the studio of historical films W. Bokun Workshop. Traditionally, in the hall of the first floor the exhibition "Navuki Belarus: demonstration, technical, and explosive" is shown. Encyclopedic and reference editions, monographs, collections of scientific papers, materials of international and republican conferences, symposia of the last two years will acquaint the publication with the main directions of fundamental and applied scientific research and development of Belarusian scientists in the most important areas of natural, technical and human sciences. The exhibition is open to all visitors of the library from 9.00 to 19.45.

In addition, everyone is invited to take part in the action "We change the book for a book or give it in good hands!". Any books by genre, subject and year of publication from home libraries are accepted for exchange. The action will take place in the hall of the first floor of the library.
