Clean oil in Druzhba pipeline reaches Belarusian border

02.05.2019

Clean oil in the Druzhba oil pipeline reached the Belarusian border on 2 May, the press service of the Belarusian state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim told BelTA.

According to OAO Gomeltransneft Druzhba, quality oil and a pipeline pig reached the Belarusian border at 12:40 on 2 May. Oil polluted with organic chlorides was displaced from the Russian section of the Druzhba pipeline into reservoirs of the line operation dispatcher station Unecha.

Standard technological operations were performed and samples of the new batch of oil were taken in presence of representatives of OAO Transneft and OAO Gomeltransneft Druzhba. Oil transportation continued in the direction of the line operation dispatcher station Mozyr at 14:28.

All the actions were agreed by the sides and are being taken on schedule.

On 19 April Belneftekhim reported a massive decrease in the quality of the Russian oil mixture Urals flowing in transit into the main oil pipeline section operated by OAO Polotsktransneft Druzhba. The oil pipeline system Druzhba is designed to deliver oil to Belarusian oil refineries and transport oil to Europe in transit via Belarus in two directions – via Poland and via Ukraine. Poland and Ukraine have stopped oil transit since then.

Negotiations involving representatives of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, and Poland took place in Minsk on 26 April in a bid to resolve the situation with poor-quality Russian oil. A Belneftekhim delegation continued negotiations in Moscow on 29-30 April. Representatives of the Russian Federation Energy Ministry said that clean oil is supposed to reach Mozyr Oil Refinery in early May.
