Belarusians to report high prices for medications online

Friday, 14 June 2019

An online platform will become available to allow Belarusians to report high prices for medications, BelTA learned from Belarusian Healthcare Minister Vladimir Karanik.

According to the source, there are some issues with prices for imported medications, which are higher than those in neighboring countries. “These are only plans for now, but we are going to work closely with representatives of the IT sphere to develop a platform where every citizen will be place to place information online, information that he or she has bought a medication abroad at a price 25-50% lower than that in Belarus,” Vladimir Karanik said.

Feedback will be available. After complaints and petitions are analyzed, the Healthcare Ministry will give answers to the people. In particular, the ministry intends to explain what prices have been adjusted and give reasons why the situation like that has evolved.

Measures will be taken bearing this information in mind. If it is not possible to reduce prices in Belarus due to the stance of the manufacturer, Belarusian pharmaceutical companies will be encouraged to start making analogs.
