Belarus has drawn some important conclusions from the Ukraine conflict. These conclusions helped better understand how to upgrade weapons and revise combat training programs, Assistant to the Defense Minister for Ideological Work in the Armed Forces, Chief of the Main Ideological Directorate of the Defense Ministry Leonid Kasinsky told the ONT TV channel, BelTA informs.

“As far as the nature of hostilities is concerned, some 10-15 years ago we took decisions to modify our battlefield strategies within minutes, hours, but today we realize that decisions should be taken in real time,” Leonid Kasinsky said.

“We have dramatically overhauled the training system, reconsidered combat training programs, made important conclusions regarding the purchase and upgrade of hardware for the Armed Forces and provision of the army with new promising models of weapons and equipment. Of course, we should not discount some traditional types of weapons and military equipment, like tanks, that were considered by some experts as a thing of the past even before the Ukraine conflict. They were wrong,” Leonid Kasinsky added.

Belarus has consistently confirmed its status as a peace-loving state, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova said at the meeting of the CSTO PA Council in Minsk on 18 May, BelTA has learned.

Long before the conflict in Ukraine, at international conferences in Minsk on security issues Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has repeatedly stressed the paramount importance of peace to the sustainable development of any country, called on the international community to dialogue, confidence-building and cooperation. “At that time, these words of the Belarusian leader might have seemed commonplace and self-evident to some. But now, there comes a general awareness of their depth and enduring meaning. Belarus has consistently confirmed its status of a peace-loving state, even despite unfriendly actions by individual politicians. Our principles are mutual support in the fight against modern challenges, responsibility, good neighborliness, peaceful coexistence and de-escalation of conflicts,” Natalya Kochanova said.

In her words, peacefulness is an inherent feature of the Belarusian people. “The people, who with dignity, courage and honor endured the worst hardships and horrors of wars, repeatedly unleashed on the Belarusian land, not by us and not by our will. The people who despite all the cruelest trials of fate did not fall to their knees, did not become embittered, did not turn from the true path, but on the contrary - continued to show humanity, compassion and kindness to the world. The motto of the current presidency of Belarus in the CSTO, “Through solidarity and cooperation to peace and security”, is another vivid confirmation of this. We categorically reject any attempt to besmirch the peace-loving image of the Belarusian nation,” the chairwoman of the Council of the Republic said.

The defense industry has become one of the most important and high-technology sectors of the economy, State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich said at a ceremony to open the 11th edition of the international arms and defense technology expo MILEX 2023 in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

"The military history of the state has taught us to value peace and security as one of the prerequisites for the positive development of society. It is symbolic that today's event is taking place in the run-up to the important historical date - the 80th anniversary of the launch of the operation to liberate Belarus from the Nazi invaders," Aleksandr Volfovich said.

He noted that the military security architecture has been destroyed, the unipolar world is fading away, hybrid information wars of various scales have been unleashed, and new challenges and threats have arisen in various regions of the world. "In these conditions, the defense industry has become one of the most important and high-technology sectors of the economy," Aleksandr Volfovich said. “In the context of the unprecedented economic and political sanctions, the products of the national defense sector are competitive and in demand on the international arms market. Belarus pursues a policy of good-neighborliness, openness and mutual trust. MILEX 2023 features the best achievements of our country's military science."

In conclusion, Aleksandr Volfovich read out a welcoming address from Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to the participants and guests of MILEX 2023.

Minsk is hosting the 11th edition of the international arms and defense technology expo MILEX 2023 and the international conference on defense and security on 17-20 May. The organizers are the State Authority for Military Industry, the Defense Ministry of Belarus, Belexpo National Exhibition Center, and the Belarus President Property management Directorate. Ten scientific organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) will present about 80 R&D products and technologies at the 11th international arms and defense technology expo MILEX 2023, the NASB press service told BelTA.

The R&D Center for Multipurpose Unmanned Systems will present a lineup of aerial vehicles. The Busel MKR drone is one of them. It is designed to provide video surveillance of areas and objects, accompany mobile objects and transmit video signal by radio to the ground-based control station and other remote consumers in real time. This model can be used as a target designator and a spotter for artillery.

MILEX 2023 visitors will be able to get familiar with an equipment simulator designed for training drone operators. The simulator is used for advanced training of drone operators and for testing the quality of training without standard drone systems. Operators can be trained using computer 3D models of specific unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), which parameters match real drones as much as possible.

UP Ferrit Company will present ferritic radar-absorbent panels PF-500-2, which have been created on the basis of a unique protection technology developed by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The radar-absorbent material and panels of a special design based on this material enable effective absorption of electromagnetic waves in a broad spectrum (10-250MHz) and offer expanded opportunities for installation and equipment of the relevant premises. It is an import-substituting product and is made only out of raw materials of UP Ferrit. The product is unparalleled in Belarus as far as its performance parameters and price are concerned. Positive user experience has already been acquired in the sphere of national security and information security.

The B.I. Stepanov Physics Institute will demonstrate diode-pumped solid-state erbium lasers emitting in a spectral range that is conditionally safe for the eyes. The R&D product is intended to be used as part of modern range finders and targeting systems, which are used in a broad range of temperatures and can be subjected to shock and vibration.

The 11th international arms and defense technology expo MILEX 2023 will take place in Minsk on 17-20 May in exhibition premises of Minsk Arena. Its key goals are a broad presentation of products of the Belarusian defense industry, familiarization with new developments in the field of high technologies, demonstration of capabilities of the enterprises taking care of modernization and repair of combat equipment and providing services to the Armed Forces.

Mogilev Oblast Governor Anatoly Isachenko has outlined three key tasks for the successful development of the region, BelTA has learned.

During the meeting of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee to discuss the region's performance in the first quarter, Anatoly Isachenko named three key tasks for the region. “Stable work of the real economy, active investment policy and solution of the most important issues that concern the population: income, housing and utilities, roads, healthcare,” he emphasized.

According to the governor, the situation in the region remains stable and manageable. “According to the H1 2023 results, Mogilev Oblast met four out of seven targets. These are nominal average monthly wages (116.3%), total revenues to the consolidated budget (119.9%), import substitution production ($257.4 million) and housing commissioning (52,300 square meters),” Anatoly Isachenko said.

According to the Mogilev Oblast governor, it is important that household incomes increased both in nominal and real terms. “The level of real wages increased by 5.9%. Forced underemployment was reduced by 4.4 times,” he stressed. “Agriculture and the construction sector both show upward trends. However, industry, trade and transport performed below the same period last year. The use of capital investment was also lower than last year - 95.4%.”

Investment for the region means development, jobs, and wages. “I would like to remind chairpersons of the regional executive committees of their personal responsibility to implement investment projects within the instruction of the head of state. The results of their implementation will be the most important criterion for evaluating the work,” he said addressing the participants of the meeting.

The governor also assessed the performance of the industrial complex. “Here we need to pay attention to the stockpiles. This is the best season to work. One more important task for the regional economy is export growth. Objectively, we have not yet managed to compensate for all the losses. We need to work in this direction,” he said.

Attending the meeting were Head of the Belarus President Administration Igor Sergeyenko, Belarus President's Aide - Inspector of Mogilev Oblast Leonid Martynyuk, representatives of the Economy Ministry, the country's leading companies, deputy corps and city executive committees.

Belarus' national flag was mounted on the country's highest point, Dzerzhinsky Hill, in the run-up to the Day of the National Flag, Emblem and Anthem on 12 May, BelTA has learned.

Taking part in the opening of the Flag of the Motherland composition were representatives of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee, Dzerzhinsky District Executive Committee, Minsk Oblast Military Commissariat, BRSM Youth Union, Belarusian National Pioneer Organization (BNPO), other public associations and departments, delegations of regions, the youth, and those who suggested installing this memorial sign.

An extreme sports athlete, climber Pavel Gapanovich addressed the audience. He is an engineer at the Dzerzhinsky branch of the Minsk Oblast State Registration and Land Cadastre Agency. Thanks to his hobby, he traveled extensively throughout the world. Wherever he went, he proudly carried the flag of Belarus and the region with him.

At the end of the ceremony, all those present sang the national anthem accompanied by a brass band.

The 345-meter Dzerzhinsky Hill is considered the highest point in Belarus. It is located on the Minsk Upland, 30 km west of Minsk, not far from Dzerzhinsk (to the north of the agricultural town of Skirmantovo). Previously called the Holy Mountain, it was renamed Dzerzhinsky Hill in 1958. In the late 1990s, a granite slab with an inscription in Belarusian was installed there. Currently, the place is well-appointed and is a monument.

More than 38,000 people visited the Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War in Minsk on 9 May, BelTA learned from the museum.

This number included visitors to the museum proper and its two branches (the military-historical complex "Old Border" and the memorial complex "Monument to Internationalist Soldiers"), and the Li-2 aircraft interactive platform and also online visits to the Museum Online.

Over two days, on 8-9 May, the museum attendance was more than 43,000 people.

On 9 May 2023, all state museums in Belarus offered free admission, but it was the Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War that was in great demand. The queue of those wishing to visit it stretched for several hundred meters.

The organizers believe that such an action on Victory Day was an additional opportunity to present the reliable information about the history of the Great Patriotic War through museum expositions and to draw public attention to the topic of the genocide of the Belarusian people during the war.

Everything will be done in Belarus so that nobody would dare tell Belarusians how they should live in their own land. Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin made the statement during the ceremony to lay wreaths at the Victory Monument in Minsk on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the Great Victory, BelTA has learned.

The official pointed out that a global military confrontation had been unleashed between the Western civilization and the Eastern Slavonic one. Battles are taking place on all the fronts. A massive war by proxy is in progress, with the West using Ukrainians to secure its own interests and ensure the ability to continue enforcing its order upon the world. “Ukraine is being pumped full of weapons. The countries that border on Belarus brazenly engage in Russophobia and are ready to throw their nations into the grinder of the war in the second echelon. We see how the militarization of Poland and the Baltic states is gaining pace,” Viktor Khrenin stated.

In his words, the massive multinational military exercise Defender Europe with an unprecedented number of participants began literally the other day. “The goals are obvious. With such actions individual Western politicians only push the planet into the abyss, trying to light the fire of World War Three in Europe's territory. Our army is ready to repulse anyone, who tries to violate the sacred borders of the Belarusian state. We will do everything so that no one would dare tell Belarusians how they should live in their own land,” the defense minister stressed.
