Belarus is not involved in the worsening of relations with Ukraine, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with well-known Ukrainian politician and statesman Alexander Moroz on 14 February, BelTA has learned.
“As for our relations, I think there is no point in telling you about them. It makes no sense to analyze them in terms of who is right and who is wrong. You, as an experienced man, understand everything very well. You understand what is going on. Once again, I want to tell you publicly that we have nothing to do with the aggravation of our relations. We have been pursuing a clear, understandable policy for the Ukrainian people. I still stick to this policy. We are close-knit people, we are neighbors. Our future must be shaped like our neighbors',” said the head of state.
Addressing Alexander Moroz, the head of state thanked him for remaining committed to his ideas: “I remember our meetings and conversations very well. I will tell you frankly, there were a lot of different people in politics back then. I hoped you would not get lost. There was a wide range of opinions. You remember it well, too. I am very glad we are meeting today because you have preserved your courage and tenacity, have not lost your convictions in the complicated situation around us - around Ukraine, Belarus.”
In turn, Alexander Moroz said that about 200,000 Ukrainians, who have moved to and now live in Belarus, are the proof of the words the president said about the relations with Ukraine. “I answered many such questions in Ukraine when I talked to my fellow compatriots. I am in Belarus for the second time over the past four months. What I see is nothing to compare with. There is a feeling that the state is developing, and is doing this successfully,” he said.
The Ukrainian politician also said that while he was in hospital, he wrote a book called In the Red Zone. It has a conclusion that the whole Ukraine is in the “red zone” today. “Here it is very important to know what the disease is, what the diagnosis is, what the treatment protocol is. I spoke frankly about this at home during rare meetings with our journalists (as I understand, they are not supposed to do this today). The main diagnosis is statelessness, the dependence on external management,” said Alexander Moroz.
In the times of the Soviet Union, Alexander Moroz worked in various roles within the Communist Party of Ukraine, was secretary of the Kiev Regional Union of Trade Unions, headed the agrarian department of the Kiev Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine, worked as the first secretary of the party committee of regional organizations and institutions.
In 1990-2007 he was member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. He was chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of the second and fifth convocations. For several years he led the Socialist Party of Ukraine.

Aleksandr Lobko, Deputy Director for Research at the Institute for Nuclear Problems of Belarusian State University, spoke about the training of personnel for the Belarusian nuclear power plant as he took part in a round table session at the BelTA press center.
“The training is carried out based on a respective government program incorporating many universities: Belarusian State University, Belarusian National Technical University, Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, some colleges. For example, our institute collaborates with the Department of Physics of Belarusian State University. This department offers two majors: “nuclear physics and nuclear technologies” and “radiation materials”. The students are trained using an extended program. Now the program takes 5.5 years. The students who get enrolled are really smart; they receive good training there and demonstrate profound knowledge in their theses. Our institute accepts students for graduation theses. Our most qualified employees run courses there to train personnel for the nuclear power plant and for nuclear research institutions,” Aleksandr Lobko said.
According to him, specialists are trained not only in Belarus, but also at partner universities in Russia. “They are sent abroad for the courses that are still at the nascent stage here or the courses for which we do not have simulators. Russia has a very long history of personnel training for the nuclear industry,” added the deputy director.

50х70 см. Золу, шлак, уголь следует удалять в специально отведенные места, подальше от сгораемых строений;
- не курите в постели и не бросайте окурки на пол. Их нужно складывать в жестяную банку с водой. Если пользуетесь пепельницей, то тушите сигарету до последней искры. Забудьте о привычке выбрасывать окурки с окна или балкона. Чтобы к вам не залетела горящая сигарета, закрывайте окна, балконные рамы, не храните там легковоспламеняющиеся жидкости. Если в семье есть человек, который любит курить в постели и разбрасывать окурки, усильте за ним контроль;

The adoption of the recently updated Education Code is only a major step towards improving the educational sector, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he appointed Andrei Ivanets Education Minister of Belarus on 10 February, BelTA has learned.
“We have adopted the Education Code. I want you to understand that this is just another big step in an attempt to improve the education system. This is by no means the end of the process. Yes, we need to implement the document. We also need to see and consider what we can do for education tomorrow. Your main task is to look ahead,” said the head of state.
As BelTA has learned, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed a law to approve the new edition of the Education Code in January. The law establishes the foundations of state policy in education and formalizes the provisions aimed at improving the efficiency, quality and accessibility of education, taking into account the trends in the development of modern education and the practice of applying the current code.
In particular, the new edition provides for universal general secondary education (currently basic general education) and final certification in certain academic subjects upon completion of general secondary education in the form of centralized testing. The procedure shall be approved by the Education Ministry.
The document expands the use of employer-sponsored training programs. Not only organizations located in small settlements and Chernobyl-contaminated areas will be able to use them but also organizations located in other settlements. Colleges shall provide vocational and secondary specialized education, and universities, academies and institutes shall offer higher education.
The new edition of the Education Code formalizes distance learning as an independent form of education, establishes the possibility of implementing educational programs through a web-based form of interaction between educational institutions.
The document introduces special higher education for certain technical and medical specialties and a new type of additional education: for gifted children and youth at the National Children's Technopark.
The law includes other norms, including those clarifying and redistributing the powers of state bodies involved in education management.
