The first house in the Minsk region independent living for people with disabilities opened today on the basis of Cherven neuropsychiatric orphanage. BelTA was told the head of the social institutions and material and social security of pensioners and disabled Committee on Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Minsk regional executive committee Vera Podorovskaya.
The facility was built by the Irish charity Burren Chernobyl Project and is a two-storey building with a total area of 210 sq.m. The house has four rooms designed for 6 people. It has two bathrooms, a bathroom. On the second floor there is a spacious attic. The total project cost is about Br2 billion.
"With the Irish charity Burren Chernobyl Project we are working about seven years, often hold a charity action. The appearance of the Minsk region of the first homes for independent living of persons with disabilities has become possible thanks to the volunteers of this organization," - said Vera Podorovskaya.
According to her, this is not the last major project of the Irish charity in the Minsk region. The following year in the territory of Cherven neuropsychiatric orphanage planned to build another of the same house for independent living of persons with disabilities.
"The building that we opened today, will lodge a woman between 18 and 45 years old. The second house is designed for men. And those and others will learn to care for themselves, housekeeping, to take up the work. They selected a small plot of land where they grow vegetables and fruit. Experts observe them from the outside, if necessary, help and support. Over time it will become clear whether these people to live in society and contribute to society. The opening ceremony at home for independent living of persons with disabilities attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ireland in Lithuania, David Noonan, director of the Irish charity Burren Chernobyl Project, as well as the charitable foundation "Dobra tut" William Omar, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Belarus, Minsk Regional Executive Committee. The guests got acquainted with the work of Cherven neuropsychiatric orphanage, visited the festive concert.
The Foundation "Dobra tut" Belarus is an Irish charity Burren Chernobyl Project, which, in response to the Chernobyl tragedy, started its activities in 1994. Local Charity Foundation "Dobra tut" was created in 2008 to optimize the work of the organization on the territory of Belarus, attracting new volunteers, sponsors, patrons and charity development in Belarus. The main objective of the fund is a financial assistance and social support homes for children and adults with special needs, as well as families in which the children live with disabilities and youth with special needs.
