Updated Lipki airfield near Minsk will be able to receive small civil aircraft

25.07.2017

The updated Lipki airfield near Minsk in the long term will be able to receive small civilian aircraft. This opinion was voiced today by the chairman of the Belarusian Federation of Aviation Sports (BFAS) Alexander Tsenter, the correspondent of BELTA reports.

The head of the federation believes that in addition to solving such tasks as security and the creation of a modern aero club site, the updated airfield has much greater potential. "Limes in the future could take over some of the functions of the closed airport Minsk-1," Alexander Tsenter said, "why not take private ships or foreigners here or repair the air communication between Minsk and the regional cities that have operational airports." < / P>

Limes are already taking small aircraft and helicopters. It is planned that over time, customs and border control will be conducted here. On the site of the new airfield, there is also a place for a hotel, a cafe and a shop - just a couple of kilometers from MKAD in the future there may be a full-fledged aviation complex for everyone who is interested in the sky. In parallel, the creation of a paratroopers' site is being worked out a little further from the city, in the vicinity of the village of Maslovi.

Minsk aeroclub DOSAAF will finally move to Lipki by autumn. All the necessary infrastructure for training military pilots and sportsmen has been created here. The technical base allows refueling and storage of aircraft, which are almost never serviced in Belarus.

The reconstructed airfield of the joint deployment of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and DOSAAF Lipki was presented on July 24. It is located on the site of the former military airfield just 1.5 km from the Minsk Ring Road. In the last two years, active construction work was conducted here and now new facilities have appeared: the base of the Minsk flying club for training athletes and military pilots, a heated hangar for aircraft, helipads and new taxiways for airplanes, as well as a modern runway of 721 lengths M.

It is possible to fly in reconstructed Limes at any time of day and season - the take-off strip is equipped with new light-signaling equipment. The aerodrome, thanks to an automatic meteorological station, will be able to receive aircraft during heavy winds and snowfalls.
