The Supreme Courts of Belarus and Russia have agreed to ensure unified approaches to the administration of justice within the Belarus-Russia Union State. This is stipulated in the memorandum of understanding and cooperation signed by Andrei Shved, Chairman of the Supreme Court of Belarus, and Igor Krasnov, Chairman of the Supreme Court of Russia, on 10 June, BelTA has learned.
Following the signing, Andrei Shved emphasized that the supreme judicial bodies have long been working within the framework of Union State agreements, but today this cooperation is moving to a brand new level of continuous, direct dialogue.
“The memorandum defines the rules and formats for further cooperation aimed at ensuring unified approaches to the administration of justice within the Union State. This includes mutual delegation visits, exchange of information on the legislation of both countries and its application, joint seminars, consultations, and the creation of joint working groups,” Andrei Shved said.
He added that Directive No. 1 of the Supreme State Council of the Union State “On Mutual Support and Cooperation in International Justice” adopted on 26 February 2026 sets the strategic direction: to jointly and consistently defend common interests on the international stage.
According to Andrei Shved, the memorandum translates this strategic line into practical action, providing for coordinated efforts by the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus and the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation at key international platforms (UN, CIS, SCO, BRICS, and others).
“Thus, the memorandum covers the full cycle of cooperation from information exchange and joint training to the development of unified positions and external coordination. I am convinced that this document will serve as our shared guideline for the coming years,” the chairman of the Supreme Court of Belarus stated.
