More than 180 new standards were adopted in Belarus in H1 2026. First Deputy Chairman of the State Standardization Committee of Belarus Aleksandr Burak made the statement on the air of the TV channel STV, BelTA has learned.
Standardization efforts are carried out in the country every year. “This year we have gone beyond 1,000 documents. At the same time, we introduce 900 new standards annually. This is a fairly good figure. It is the most effective in the post-Soviet space after the Russian Federation. We carry out work on matters related to checking the scientific and technical level. Our industry checks 600 standards every year, evaluating their dynamic changes and the relevance of the requirements applied to products,” Aleksandr Burak noted.
In his words, more than 180 new standards were adopted in Belarus in H1 2026. Over 170 documents were canceled as they were no longer relevant. Specialists of the State Standardization Committee also check the existing documents.
“Speaking about the database of standardization documents, it contains more than 32,000 modern, updated requirements. At the same time, we have developed 5,000 national standardization documents and adopted 28,000 interstate standards used in countries of the former Soviet Union,” the first deputy chairman of the State Standardization Committee explained. He added that the database includes interstate and international documents within the framework of concluded bilateral agreements. They can become the basis for developing national standards.
“Every year we evaluate an average of more than 65,000 product names of both domestic and imported make. There is no doubt that we use a risk-oriented approach in our assessment. We do not exercise total control over products. We evaluate them based on the problems that, in our opinion, exist in a particular field. But according to average assessment indicators, we have carried out an analysis, and the detected number of violations ranges from 7% to 8% of non-compliance with the requirements of technical normative legal acts,” Aleksandr Burak stated. Specialists pay special attention to the safety of food products, children’s toys, and light industry goods.
