Forensic examination systems of Belarus, Russia determine key interaction areas

01.07.2026

The Research and Practice Center of the State Forensic Examination Committee of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federal Center of Forensic Science named after Professor A.R. Shlyakhov of the Justice Ministry of the Russian Federation have signed a memorandum on scientific and practical cooperation on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, the State Forensic Examination Committee told BelTA.

The memorandum lays down a solid foundation for continuous scientific dialogue and joint projects for the sake of the forensic examination systems of Belarus and Russia. The parties determined three key areas of cooperation: scientific and methodological support for forensic examination, the organization of research and development of modern algorithms, and information exchange.

“Our organizations already have positive experience of interaction based on professional trust, mutual respect, and shared interest in developing forensic examination activities,” Head of the Research and Practice Center of the State Forensic Examination Committee of Belarus Vadim Poznyak pointed out.

He noted that the signing of the memorandum is an important step toward further strengthening cooperation. “Today we are becoming even closer in scientific, methodological, and practical terms, joining efforts to accomplish urgent tasks of forensic examination. Areas such as conducting joint research, exchanging scientific and methodological information, participating in conferences, seminars, and roundtable sessions, and implementing innovative projects are of particular importance,” Vadim Poznyak stated.

Speaking about cooperation prospects, the head of the center expressed confidence that the memorandum will become a reliable basis for new joint initiatives, will help strengthen professional ties, and will contribute to the further development of forensic examination activities.

“Interaction with Belarusian colleagues is an exchange of experience between two strong forensic examination institutions. Uniting the scientific potential of our centers opens up opportunities for joint developments and for the exchange of methods. We expect that cooperation will strengthen the scientific basis of forensic examination and bring practical benefits to experts of both countries,” Director of the Russian Federal Center of Forensic Science named after Professor A.R. Shlyakhov Aleksei Mamontov emphasized.

The forensic examination schools of Belarus and Russia have historically developed together: they share a common scientific tradition and practice, the State Forensic Examination Committee added. “Today the time has come to harmonize approaches and jointly seek answers to modern challenges. The signing of the memorandum marks a new stage in the development of bilateral cooperation, opening up broad prospects for strengthening professional ties and improving the quality of forensic examination activities for the sake of justice in both states,” the State Forensic Examination Committee concluded.
