Prayers will be said in Minsk for the victims of a recent earthquake in Venezuela, BelTA learned from the website of the Roman Catholic Church in Belarus.
A holy mass for the eternal happiness of the Venezuela earthquake victims will take place at the Archcathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Minsk on 18 July. The mass will begin at 15:00. The Eucharist will be led by Apostolic Nuncio to the Republic of Belarus, Archbishop Ante Jozic. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Republic of Belarus Franklin Ramirez Araque has also confirmed he will attend the service.
Metropolitan of Minsk and Mogilev, Archbishop Iosif Stanevsky, Chairman of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of Belarus, invites everyone to join the prayer.
A devastating earthquake hit Venezuela in the evening on 24 June. According to data available as of 11 July, as many as 4,333 people died and 16,740 were injured. Apart from that, 17,907 people lost their homes, 190 buildings were completely destroyed, and 856 suffered considerable damage. Temporary camps accommodate 18,437 people. As many as 6,462 people were rescued.
