Approximately 93% of large families have already received one-off government back-to-school financial assistance, the press service of the Labor and Social Protection Ministry told BelTA.
The amount of the one-off payment is Br159.11 per school-age child in the family. Across all regions of the country, over 104,000 large families have already received the assistance, covering 210,000 children. The total amount paid out came to Br33.4 million.
The Labor and Social Protection Ministry also recalled that support for families with school-age children is provided through state-targeted social assistance programs. Nearly 1,000 families have already received such aid, covering 3,000 children, to the total amount of Br2.2 million.
In addition, employees raising schoolchildren may receive assistance at their workplace, in line with collective work agreements and the employee’s local regulations. In July and August charitable campaigns are launched across the country by the territorial social service centers, foundations, and public associations such as School Backpack, Get Your Child Ready for School, To School with a Smile and First-Grader’s Backpack.
