The Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry and MPs have begun a comprehensive review of agricultural legislation to shape the agenda for 2027-2028, BelTA learned from the ministry’s press service.
Agriculture and Food Minister Yuri Gorlov held a working meeting with representatives of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, his deputies, and heads of the ministry’s main departments.
The meeting assessed the law enforcement practices of laws adopted by previous convocations, developed approaches for adjusting the legal framework of the agricultural sector, and outlined a course for a systematic review of industry legislation.
Ministry specialists and members of the parliamentary commission on agricultural policy, chaired by Ivan Markevich, will focus on identifying legal conflicts, outdated imperative norms, and regulatory gaps. The goal of this work is to ensure legal certainty and harmonize the legal framework with the current economic realities of the agro-industrial complex, eliminating excessive administrative regulation and duplication of functions.
“Today we are conducting a systematic review of legislation: we are thoroughly analyzing current norms to eliminate outdated provisions and bring the legal framework into full compliance with the current realities of the industry and the needs of society. We will update the documents, develop more effective working approaches, and create a stable legal framework for the future,” Yuri Gorlov said.
The preparation of new draft laws will require detailed expert work. Lawyers, economists, and industry experts will take stock of existing legal acts and align them with national development strategies. This approach will allow for a transition to proactive legal regulation, creating transparent and clear rules for all market participants.
According to Ivan Markevich, joint interagency work on draft regulatory acts is aimed at creating a stable legal foundation. This is necessary to establish long-term guarantees for the innovative development of agriculture.
Following the meeting, a list of priority areas for updating legal norms was compiled.
