A working meeting between Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Belarus Igor Karpenko and Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Russia Ella Pamfilova took place in Moscow on 19 September, BelTA learned from the Central Election Commission of Belarus.
The heads of the electoral bodies discussed issues concerning the implementation of the bilateral agreement regulating the ensuring of the voting rights of citizens of the Union State. The discussion focused on mechanisms of interaction for the participation in elections of Russian citizens permanently residing in Belarus, and of Belarusian citizens on the territory of the Russian Federation during federal and nationwide campaigns.
During the meeting, Igor Karpenko noted the high level of readiness of the Russian electoral system for the current election campaign.
He emphasized that the experience accumulated by Russia in organizing multi-day voting and protecting electoral sovereignty is of enormous practical value for the development of electoral standards within the Union State.
The chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Belarus is in Moscow to observe the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
In the course of monitoring the electoral process, Igor Karpenko got familiar with the organization of the work of election commissions, the technical equipment of polling stations, and also measures to ensure security.
According to the chairperson of the Central Election Commission, good conditions have been created at polling stations for citizens to express their will, including with regard to the safety of all participants in the electoral process.
