First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vitaly Zalessky held talks in Chongqing on setting up a joint laboratory under the Belt and Road initiative, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
The focus was on issues of developing high-tech bilateral partnership. The sides discussed in detail the project roadmap and the conditions for submitting an application to the relevant competition.
On Belarus’ side, the project is expected to involve the Institute of Physics and Technology, the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering, the Institute of Chemistry of New Materials and the Materials Science Research and Production Center; on China’s side, the Harbin Institute of Technology, the Chongqing Research Institute of Harbin Institute of Technology and Jidian Holding.
The main goal of the future laboratory is innovative developments for mechanical engineering and the aviation industry. Scientists plan to focus on increasing the service life and competitiveness of complex products: from pumping equipment to reducers and energy conversion systems.
“The participants in the meeting confirmed that both sides have all the necessary resources to implement projects in these areas, including scientific and human resources. In the near future, a package of necessary documents will be prepared for participation in the competition to create a joint Belt and Road laboratory. This will be an important step in deepening scientific and technological interaction between Belarus and China,” the press service said.
The meeting was attended by representatives of key state, scientific and industrial structures - the Chongqing Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, the Chongqing Machinery and Electronics Holding (group of companies) Jidian, the Chongqing Research Institute of Harbin Institute of Technology and laboratories of the School of Electrical Engineering of Harbin Institute of Technology.
