More than 70 divers and volunteers gathered an ecological action on Lake Naroch dedicated to the International Day of Water Treatment, reported on the air of the TV channel "Belarus 1", BelTA informs.
Participants divided into six teams and went to different shores. They needed to bypass more than 40 km of the coastal line. About 6 cubic meters of rubbish collected during the day, among which - part of the boat, carpet, plastic and glass waste. After sorting glass, plastic, metal was sent for recycling.
As the deputy chairman of the Minsk regional committee for natural resources and environmental protection Alexander Dobritsky noted, such actions are an opportunity not only to clean reservoirs of debris, but also to preserve the biodiversity of the coastal territory. In addition, the event is aimed at fostering an ecological culture, drawing public attention to environmental issues, taking care of nature.
The event was organized by the Minsk Regional Committee for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection in cooperation with the Myadel District Executive Committee. It took place in the framework of the ecological campaign "Let's build a small homeland". Participants of the action arranged a tourist camp "Camp", which is located 10 km south-west of Myadel on the eastern shore of the reservoir, 700 m south of the village of Gatovichi. Everybody could join the campaign - divers, members of their families, volunteers and citizens who are not indifferent to the ecological condition of reservoirs.
According to the results of the campaign, the winners in the categories "The youngest participant", "The largest amount of debris under water and on land", "The most interesting find under water", "The most interesting find on the shore", "Funny find", " The biggest trophy "," The most active participant on the shore "," The most active participant under water "," The most interesting children's drawing ". They were awarded prizes from organizers and sponsors, as well as commemorative diplomas.
