Environmental projects are responding to the youth of the Minsk region. Olga Shibko, head of the youth policy section of the main department of ideological work, culture and youth affairs of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee, told BelTA.
Programs and projects on environmental education of youth and its involvement in practical activities to improve the environment are being implemented in the central region, and they all find their audience, the expert said.
So, every year there is an ecology-patriotic youth forum of the Minsk region. "Why is an ecological and patriotic marathon? Because only a man-patriot who loves his homeland, his land, cares about the environment, about the ecological way of life," Olga Shibko is sure. Places of the festival in different years were Soligorsk, Nesvizh, Myadel.
There are many projects that are funded in the framework of both national programs and international technical assistance projects of UNDP. These are the drafts of the National Strategy for Sustainable Social and Economic Development of the Republic of Belarus for the period until 2020. Much attention is paid to educational projects. Environmental education should begin from childhood, with the family, so very often educational projects are conducted with families, with pre-school children, the expert added.
With the participation of the Minsk Regional Resource Center for Integrated Support for Education for Sustainable Development in Molodechno District, three pilot areas were established (Krasny village, Khozhovo, Polochany), where young people were able to promote sustainable ideas development in local communities, conducting master classes, actions, flash mobs.
In addition, projects are being implemented within the framework of the contest of youth initiatives. For example, the development of ecological routes, ecological paths. In this direction active cooperation with the bicycle community is conducted. In particular, the NGO "Minsk Cycling Society" in Volozhinsky District has explored and arranged two new excursion branches of the "Volozhinsky Gostiny" route.
Another interesting project is being implemented in the educational establishment of the Vileika College in the village of Komarovo. There organic production of organic fertilizer - biohumus is established, which is the technology of introduction of ecological agricultural production.
Agroecotourism is also actively developing in the Minsk region, there are many agro-fairs in the region, and rural tourism is developing. Speaking about the Pasternak eco-festival, which will be held June 30 to July 1 in the Minsk amusement park Dreamland, Olga Shibko noted that this initiative can get a broader registration in the future and become a regional event.
