Military-historical reconstruction will mark the anniversary of the crossing of the army of Napoleon across the Berezina

23.11.2018

The military-historical reconstruction dedicated to the 206th anniversary of Napoleon’s crossing the Berezina during the Patriotic War in November 1812 will be held on November 25 in the Brilevskoye Pole memorial complex in Borisov district, the ministry said.

The reconstruction will be part of the international festival "Berezina-2018", which runs from 24 to 25 November. Every year this holiday is illustrated by the events of the crossing of the French emperor through the Berezina near the Belarusian villages of Studenka and Brili. Then, 206 years ago, the Russian army attempted to surround the bloodless French troops and finally destroy them. The battle became so significant that a new word, berezina, appeared in French, meaning the collapse of all hopes.

For visitors of the festival prepared interactive sites and photo zones. The program includes a concert of musical groups in the 19th century stylistics, a parade through the streets of Borisov, a battle at the city’s fortifications and a battle at Brilevsky Field, a theatrical performance, a concert and fireworks on the main square of the city.

Participation will be military history clubs and associations that specialize in the reconstruction of costume, weapons, armor and equipment of the XIX century. In total, 600 uniformists, 110 horsemen, and artillery will be involved. Guests are expected from Russia, Poland, France.

The organizers of the event are the Minsk Regional Executive Committee, the Borisov District Executive Committee and the military-historical clubs of Belarus.
