Public discussion of the draft strategy of integrated management of municipal solid waste (MSW), Minsk region. BelTA reported chairman of NGO "Ekopartnerstvo" Julia Yablonsky.

Document created within the project "Development of a strategy of integrated management of municipal waste for the sustainable development of the Minsk region," which is implemented jointly Minsk Oblast Executive Committee, MOO "Ekopartnerstvo" experts Minsk Regional Committee of Natural Resources and Environment, GO "Housing Minsk region", enterprises collection and recycling. The project is co-financed by the European Union.
It is expected that the strategy will coordinate the actions of the parties interested in the organization of solid municipal waste, according to the principles of sustainable development. "As a whole generation of MSW management strategy will determine the sequence of actions with regard to the treatment of such waste will be to promote public awareness on waste management", - said chairman of the NGO "Ekopartnerstvo."
So far in Belarus acted only one document to manage municipal waste - in Pukhovichi area. The strategy was developed by combining "Ekopartnerstvo", and in 2012 approved by the District Council of Deputies Pukhovichi.
