Most accidents in 2014 occurred in the Minsk region

20.02.2015

Most of the accident, including as a result of which the citizens were killed or injured in the past year occurred in the Minsk region. Their number is 21.6% from elsewhere in the country, BelTA learned from the management of the Investigative Committee of the Minsk region.

Analyzing the practice of criminal cases in this category, investigators believe that the cause of most of the tragic consequences of the death of citizens, injuries, including children, is a flagrant violation of traffic rules by drivers. Most often accidents occur in cases such as speeding, driving while intoxicated, improper moving intersections, exit at the traffic lane in places where it is prohibited by road markings and signs.

Investigation Department at UCSC Minsk region completed the investigation of the criminal case against 44-year resident of the Grodno region, accused of violating traffic rules, resulting in the death of one person and causing serious bodily injury to the second. Traffic accident occurred in November last year on the highway M1 Brest-Minsk-Russian border near the village of Much Uholoda Borisov district.

As stated in the course of the investigation, the accused, driving road train composed of a truck tractor DAF showed carelessness and inattention to the road conditions, distracted from the control to the right and left along the side of the road traffic. He did not take timely action to reduce speed to a stop, and made a run over the two men at the roadside near the MAZ-enabled alarm. As a result of the accident one of the pedestrians killed on the spot, and the other was seriously injured.

Particular attention is drawn during the investigation and determination of the causes and conditions that contributed to the commission of crimes on the facts of the accident. In the summer of last year on the same section of the road M1 / E30 Brest-Minsk-Russian border there were two similar accidents, as a result of which the citizens were injured, categorized as serious as to endanger life.

The two car accident happened during the week on the 305th km near the village of Live Dzerzhinsky district. In both cases, the drivers driving heavy vehicles at the entrance to the uncontrolled pedestrian crossing did not take timely action to reduce speed and collided with cars that stopped for crossing pedestrians. As a result of the accident seriously injured car occupants, one of whom died in the hospital.

UCSC in the Minsk region made a representation to the RUE "Minskavtodor Center" to eliminate the causes and conditions that contributed to the commission of crimes, to take additional measures to ensure the safety of traffic on this stretch of road.

In 2014, investigators at UCSC Minsk Region has initiated more than 340 criminal cases under article 317 of the Criminal Code of Belarus for violation of traffic rules by drivers, resulting in the infliction of serious bodily injury or death. Property arrested defendants totaling about Br5 billion.
