Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko thanks China President Xi Jinping for a big personal contribution to the development of the Belarusian-Chinese relations. The Belarusian head of state made the statement at the official negotiations in the extended format with China President Xi Jinping in Beijing on 29 September, BelTA has learned.
“Indeed, we have made serious progress in our cooperation. On behalf of the Belarusian people and the Belarusian state I would like to thank you for this contribution to our relations. Without this personal contribution it would be impossible to advance our relations to the existing level,” the Belarusian President said.
Alexander Lukashenko noted that it has already become a good tradition for the leaders of the two countries to meet several times a year. “After your visit to Belarus in May 2015 we have done a lot to promote your initiatives. First if all, these include the Silk Road Economic Belt, the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park project which you called the pearl of the Silk Road. Yes, it is a crucial link for the advancement of regional, credit and investment cooperation between our countries,” the Belarusian leader said.
In his words, the sides have done a lot to promote business contacts. There have been over 40 visits of Belarusian delegations led by heads of government bodies, regional authorities and large companies to China since September 2015. Besides, many delegations of Chinese government bodies and political parties, regional and business delegations have visited Belarus.
