Lukashenko: SCO can become global organization and address problems of world order

Friday, 16 September 2022

The SCO can become a global organization and address today's problems of the world order, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he addressed the SCO summit in Samarkand on 16 September, BelTA has learned.

The head of state noted that he has been in politics for many years and very carefully observed how the SCO has fought for regional leadership. "Given the work of our organization, in light of the recent developments the world has changed significantly. We all see that the world as we knew it is no longer here. The attention of all progressive humanity, as they used to say, is now attached to our organization - the Shanghai Cooperation Organization," the Belarusian leader said.

"And, perhaps unexpectedly for some of us, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is turning from a regional organization into a global one. The most important thing now is not to miss this moment. It is necessary to give a chance to those states (you talked about this, and rightly so as there are a lot of them) so that they can find an alternative to the existing realities. Our organization can become global, objectively so, and to address global problems of the world order. It is important not to be late, to seize this moment and adequately respond to it," Aleksandr Lukashenko concluded.
