Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko instructed the State Control Committee and the Ministry of Internal Affairs to inspect sports clubs across the country, Deputy Prime Minister Natalya Petkevich told the media following the meeting held by the president to discuss the situation in Belarusian sport, BelTA has learned.
Among the speakers at the meeting was Chairman of the State Control Committee Vasily Gerasimov who reported on the findings of an inspection into HC Dinamo Minsk. Natalya Petkevich noted that since the club receives state funding, close scrutiny is given to all related matters.
“The inspection identified a number of serious shortcomings, which did not go unnoticed by the head of state. In this regard, the State Control Committee and the Ministry of Internal Affairs were instructed to inspect sports clubs across the country in general to see whether the financial assistance allocated to sports (purpose-restricted funds) goes into sports and is not used to finance some other needs unrelated to sports, including certain economic or operational needs,” Natalya Petkevich noted.
