“In April-May, ahead of the European Games, we will get $12.5 million worth of equipment as international technical aid. It will be divided between customs clearance offices at the border checkpoints,” Yuri Senko said. According to him, thanks to new equipment (X-ray systems and customs inspection complexes to detect weapons, explosives, munition) the customs bodes will be able to make customs procedures easier and increase security.
This year, the State Customs Committee plans to improve liaison with Belarusian Railways and the Agriculture and Food Ministry as was already done with the State Committee for Standardization (Gosstandart) and the Healthcare Ministry. Interdepartmental cooperation will allow companies to move freight and goods across the border faster as they will not have to produce some of the documents at the customs.
