About 25 million trees are planned to be planted in the spring in the forestry enterprises of Minsk region. Andrei Shevelev, head of the forestry and reforestation department of Minsk State Forestry Production Association, BelTA reported.

"Every year we try to plant empty areas, as well as areas that have undergone felling. This time for planting and sowing a little less area was allocated than last year, because there were practically no negative natural factors that could significantly damage the tracts," he said Andrei Shevelev: “About 5 thousand hectares have been allotted for planting and sowing trees in Minsk region, where in the spring we plan to plant about 25 million plantings. These are mostly spruce and pine.”

Most active reforestation is planned to be carried out in Logoisk, Lyubansky and Borisov experimental forestry enterprises.

  • гиперчувствительность к какому-либо компоненту вакцины или вакцины, содержащей аналогичные компоненты;
  • тяжелые аллергические реакции в анамнезе;
  • острые инфекционные и неинфекционные заболевания;
  • обострение хронических заболеваний (вакцинацию проводят через 2–4 недели после выздоровления или ремиссии);
  • беременность и период грудного вскармливания;

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has approved as the basis for negotiations a draft Belarusian-Russian intergovernmental agreement on organizing cooperation in the area of transportation and transshipment of oil products from Belarus, which are supposed to be exported to third countries via Russian sea ports.

The head of state signed the relevant decree on 16 February, BelTA has learned.

The Transport and Communications Ministry has been authorized to conduct negotiations on the draft agreement and sign the document if the sides come to terms within limits of the approved draft.

BelTA reported earlier that the signing of the agreement had been rescheduled from 15 February to a later date due to the need to complete intrastate procedures. Apart from that, contracts with Russian operators of terminals in the sea ports and with the railway operator are not yet ready. These contracts are supposed to be signed together with the agreement.

The draft agreement provides for transshipping over 9.8 million tonnes of freight by Belarusian companies in Russian ports on the Baltic Sea in 2021-2023. Cargoes such as furnace oil, gasoline, and lubricants will be transshipped. As per the agreement contracts will be signed in line with the take-or-pay principle. If the shipper wants to ship less than the specified volume, the sea terminal will be paid for the specified volume anyway.

The agreement will be valid till the end of 2023 and can be extended automatically.

It is necessary to determine the development prospects of Motovelo Plant, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at the meeting to discuss the development of the motorcycle and bicycle production in Belarus on 16 February, BelTA informs.

The president recalled that the production of motorcycles and bicycles was launched in Belarus in 1945 and survived the collapse of the Soviet Union. “Healthy lifestyles have been in big demand all over the world in recent years, and sports activities are more popular than ever. The best is yet to come. The global market of bicycles is increasingly vibrant, and in spite of the pandemic forecasts tell that it annually grows by 9%,” the head of state remarked.

According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, conditions for the development of this industry are very good. The production of such Belarusian bicycle brands as Minsk and Aist has been preserved in the country; the product range includes more than 100 bicycles and dozens of motorcycles. “But unfortunately, the financial and economic indicators could be much better. And the share of Belarusian bicycles on the domestic market has been decreasing every year. They account for about 20% of the market today,” the president said.

In his words, the export is small, it does not solve the problem of sales.

“It is not surprising if the key link of the production chain, which is a local design and engineering department, is lost. It doesn't make much wits to organize the assembly of vehicles. But it's almost a dead end. And an assembly facility will not help solve the problems of the enterprise. Especially financial and economic problems. And the problem of debts will not be solved. The mechanism which is now used by our enterprise is temporary. Long-term strategies will be futile in this case,” the head of state is convinced.

Aleksandr Lukashenko raised a number of urgent issues at the meeting. First of all, he asked about the development strategy of the enterprise. “The priorities of our economic policy were determined at the Belarusian People's Congress. Therefore, if someone thinks that we will sell this enterprise to anybody, privatize it, close it or, roughly speaking, start producing only spoke while investors will relocate all production facilities to Italy, Russia or China, they are mistaken,” the Belarusian leader warned.

According to the head of state, when he speaks about MAZ, BelAZ, MTZ, Gomselmash and other enterprises, he means that these plants are the face of the Belarusian manufacturing industry, they are the brands of Belarus. “Motovelo Plant is on this list. Therefore, we cannot lose it,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.

The president also recalled the nationally-accepted decision to develop promising industries. “We have many good specialists who can make good bicycles. Let's develop this industry,” he said.

“I want to see a comprehensive and well-developed business plan which takes the interests of consumers into account. There should be high-quality and competitive products. You will not sell bad products because the competition is very strong in the world. The proposal to build an enterprise in the center of Minsk using budget funds does not hold up to criticism. It is essential to prepare a clear, economically viable and efficient model for the development of production with a guaranteed payoff period of about 5 years. Having such a plan, we can consider and discuss financing,” the president said.

Secondly, he asked for information about the repayment of debts. The ideas to tear the enterprise apart and then hand over its pieces to banks (Belgazprombank, Alfa Bank, etc.) are anti-state, in my opinion. This is a way to destroy the enterprise,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

Thirdly, the head of state wondered what will happen with the existing production premises.

“This is a desirable piece, a wonderful piece of land in the center of Minsk, and it is bigger than the enterprise needs. Therefore, the city administration and the government should think how to use this territory for the benefit of the state and people,” the president said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko warned against the proposals to build housing there. “Once again, at the Belarusian People's Congress we agreed that we don't need so much housing in Minsk. Otherwise, the whole country will move to Minsk. This issue was discussed many times,” he said.

“I am waiting for proposals. And I want well-considered proposals,” the head of state concluded.

The regional stage of the republican competitions among children and adolescents in biathlon "Snow Sniper" for the prizes of the President's Sports Club started on Friday, February 12 in "Raubichi".

The Friday program of the competition includes sprint races, and on Sunday, February 14, mixed relay races will take place. Taking into account the cancellation of last year's races due to the coronavirus pandemic, the organizers decided to increase the number of participants, including the starts of shooting skiers born in 2004 in the tournament program, the press service of the organization said.

196 schoolchildren - amateurs of biathlon - passed the multistage selection from 32 thousand participants in regional competitions. They have been in Raubichi since the beginning of this week, actively preparing for the competition, during which the representatives of the Belarusian Biathlon Federation will test and select the most talented children for their favorite sport on a more serious level.

In recent years, interest in one of the most popular winter sports in Belarus has noticeably increased, especially in the regions, because the competitions are now held in a biathlon format. If earlier children fired separately at the shooting range and then skied around the stadium, now, thanks to the Presidential Sports Club, which has purchased and transferred target installations and modern air rifles to all regions of the country, it has become possible to equip a biathlon shooting range right on the ski slopes.

Recall that in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, the starts will be held without spectators and with all precautions, however, for biathlon fans, an online broadcast will be organized from the scene on the official YouTube channel of the Presidential Sports Club and on the Belarus-5 air.

In an interview with RBC newspaper Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei spoke about the possible agenda of the meeting between presidents Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin which is scheduled for the second half of February, BelTA informs.

“The work is in progress, both sides are preparing corresponding materials for this meeting. And I think that it will be very important given the fact that the prime ministers also met many times, and we have made progress in the resolution of a number of issues of the trade and economic cooperation which are important for the two sides. Therefore, the meeting will take place,” the minister said. “Besides, I believe that the recent events which are taking place in and around our countries can and definitely will intensify our integration processes in the bilateral format and, sooner or later, in the multilateral format in the Eurasian Economic Union. Therefore, I think that our presidents need to discuss a couple of things. I believe that the sides will reach serious long-term agreements.”

Vladimir Makei also remarked that the issues of integration in the Union State had not been frozen in the past months. “We have been discussing closer integration cooperation all the time. Heads of specified ministries met with each other regularly. There were mutual visits,” he said.

According to the minister of foreign affairs, Russia's Vice Premier Yuri Borisov visited Belarus not long ago. And the meeting with the prime minister resulted in important agreements in manufacturing cooperation. “Therefore, the dialogue on integration has not stopped. Routine work was done,” Vladimir Makei emphasized.

In his words, there are concrete issues allowing us to say that there is certain progress in these integration processes. And the presidents will get really good material to discuss the future of the Belarusian-Russian relations.

When asked if Minsk's request to allocate money from the loan for the nuclear power plant will be on the agenda of the talks, the minister said: “It is necessary to talk to the Finance Ministry, they are in charge of this area. But I think that the construction of the nuclear power plant is a very important topic and will be discussed. I do not want to discuss the details right now. I cannot say what issues the presidents will discuss.”

He also did not exclude that the interaction in the finance and credit sector will be on the agenda. “But it does not mean that Belarus will definitely ask for Russia's loans or other aid. Perhaps, the sides will discuss the issue of financial and credit cooperation from the perspective of implementing various beneficial joint projects which were, by the way, discussed during the visit of Vice Premier [Yuri] Borisov to Belarus,” Vladimir Makei said.

In this regard, the minister of foreign affairs reminded that Russia's Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin had recently paid a visit to Karelia and had mentioned a joint Belarusian-Russian project to produce vehicles for the forestry industry as a positive example. “This is our enterprise Amkodor. We need to promote such cooperation which will help advance our integration to a brand-new level,” the minister said.
