Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has congratulated President of the Swiss Confederation Alain Berset on Swiss National Day, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
“The history of Belarus and Switzerland was largely shaped by their geographical location at the crossroads of strategically important routes. The two states are characterized by ethnic and religious diversity. We have a lot in common,” the message of congratulations reads.
The head of state believes that everything is in place to step up bilateral contacts in economy, science, education, culture and sports, including thanks to the solid foundation laid in the past years.
“In this regard, we are concerned about the current trends in Switzerland that have a negative impact on our interaction. First of all, this is the country's decision to join the EU's unfair and illegitimate restrictive measures against Belarus,” the president noted. “We expect a truly objective, balanced and pragmatic position in relation to the Republic of Belarus from our Swiss partners. We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to cooperation based on equality and mutual respect for the sake of bringing back peace and security in the region and the world,” the president noted.
Aleksandr Lukashenko wished Alain Berset and the multi-ethnic nation of Switzerland further prosperity and well-being.

As he was hearing out a report from Deputy Prime Minister Leonid Zayats on Thursday, Aleksandr Lukashenko promised that the forthcoming week will be dedicated to agriculture. And the head of state will spend the week in Belarus' west.
The president said: “I will try to travel [to the regions] in the near future. I intend to see the western part of the country. Grodno Oblast happens to be your area of responsibility. We might also have a look at Brest Oblast and review the performance of the Agriculture and Food Ministry as a whole.”

Министерство спорта и туризма и Национальное агентство по туризму при поддержке Министерства информации, Министерства культуры и Министерства образования приглашает к участию в III Республиканском конкурсе социальной рекламы «#ПознайБеларусь».
Конкурс проводится с целью популяризации внутреннего туризма с последующим привлечением широких слоев населения к совершению туристических путешествий по территории Беларуси.
Задачи конкурса:

К участию в конкурсе приглашаются все желающие: физические лица, включая детей и учащуюся молодежь (студенты учреждений высшего образования, учащиеся учреждений среднего специального, профессионально-технического и среднего образования), а также юридические лица и индивидуальные предприниматели.

“The policy of the president of our country to retain competencies and production capacities has born fruit. The enterprises that we have bailed out keep working and demonstrate efficient performance,” Natalya Kochanova noted.
Aleksandr Lukashenko's main demand for MotoVeloZavod was to preserve the enterprise and to retain competencies. He gave an instruction to strive for maximum localization. The level of localization should increase to at least 50% within five years. Another instruction was to put the production premises in order and to relocate the Minsk City Technopark to the area where MotoVeloZavod stands within three years.
“The instruction of the head of state is mandatory; it is necessary to avoid red tape and to meet deadlines. If the president sets the goal to achieve 50%, then you must do it. Because the president never says anything without due reason. The Horizont company seemed to have no future, but the president came, sorted things out and the situation really took off. A good medical center was built; shop floors were repaired; production capacities can still be used. The president inspected Motovelo. It turned out that a lot could be done here. A technology park was established. Over 100 companies want to join it. This park is highly popular. But heads of enterprises, organizations, central government bodies should have a good understanding of the situation in their area of responsibility. Today they have a clear task: everyone should do their job well. This is the starting point of all our efforts,” Natalya Kochanova added.
As one of the countries that founded the United Nations Organization Belarus cannot observe what is going on in the organization with calm. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement as he met with Permanent Representative of Belarus to the United Nations Organization Valentin Rybakov, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “The United Nations Organization. What is it nowadays? What are the prospects of this organization from your point of view? Well, and what should we do in this organization? Naturally as one of the organization's founding countries we cannot calmly watch what is going on over there. We've discussed the matter with the Russian president. I see that the UN Secretariat, a working body has already started working from the point of view of giving some preferences to one or two countries or to the West or the East. I mean this organization is kind of evolving into some servant organization. More depends on major powers. It is abnormal. Considering the pressure that major powers, the West exercise.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko mentioned the Russia-Africa summit, which is taking place these days, and the terrible pressure that the United States of America and Western Europe brought against its participants. “It is abnormal,” he stressed.
“One starts wondering: what do we do? I would like to hear out your point of view,” Aleksandr Lukashenko told Valentin Rybakov.
The president asked questions about the work of Belarus' mission to the UN. He wondered whether the mission is present there only pro forma and what it can really do. “For instance, if Western countries have virtually refused to cooperate with us, well, we are now transferring diplomats to the areas where we need to work, where it is necessary to build up positions and the situation. Should we do the same to the United Nations Organization and treat it the way we treat Western states?” the Belarusian leader wondered.
During the meeting Valentin Rybakov confirmed that criticism of the United Nations Organization began virtually since the moment the organization was founded and there are definitely things the organization and its secretariat should be criticized for. At the same time the United Nations Organization is more than a building or the secretariat. “It is 193 countries together with us. And as a founder of this organization Belarus actively works in it. We don't prioritize work with international functionaries. We work with the countries that are represented in this organization,” Valentin Rybakov said.
The Belarusian National Children's Technopark has signed a cooperation agreement with the representative office of the National Research Center Kurchatov Institute, Russia, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Committee on Science and Technology.
"By signing the agreement we aim to set up an integrative network educational space for educational and introductory practices, which will allow gifted young people to decide on the choice of a further professional trajectory. Juniors of the center will be able to study in the laboratories specializing in megascience projects, genetic research, innovative technologies in microelectronics, cognitive research," the press service said.
The Kurchatov Institute opened its representative office in Minsk in March of this year. It operates at the Institute of Physics and Technology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent greetings to President of the Republic of Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the people of this country as the nation celebrates Independence Day, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
“Within a relatively short period of time, your country has made substantial progress in social and economic development, which includes achievement of sustainable development goals and improvement of living standards of the population,” the message of congratulations reads.
Belarus is interested in building fruitful relations with the Republic of Maldives in the economic sectors that this Asian country is most interested in, the head of state stressed.
“We are ready to share expertise and knowledge in information technology, electric transport, pharmaceutics. We are open for cooperation in personnel training in computer technology, healthcare, agriculture. I hope that by joint efforts we will be able to expand bilateral cooperation and intensify dialogue, including contacts at various levels,” the president noted.
Aleksandr Lukashenko wished Ibrahim Mohamed Solih good health and many successes in his work, and the Maldivian people peace and prosperity.
Active preparations are underway in Minsk Oblast for the 2nd CIS Games. Cities are being decorated with symbols of the landmark international tournament, BelTA learned from the press service of the Minsk regional administration.
For example, the city of Molodechno, one of the venues of the 2nd CIS Games, are putting up thematic across-the-street banners, boards and life-size figurines of the Rysia the Lynx, the mascot of the Games.
The sporting event of the year will be held in Belarus from 4 to 14 August. Minsk Oblast will host the wrestling tournament (the tennis arena of the Shakhter sports complex in Soligorsk) and a beach volleyball tournament (Victory Park in Molodechno).
