Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent greetings to Dr. Arif Alvi, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, as the country celebrates Independence Day, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
“In a short period of time by historical standards, your beautiful country has built its statehood and determined its own path of socio-economic transformations, having retained its ethnic identity,” the message of congratulations reads.
The head of state noted that relations between Minsk and Islamabad are developing dynamically in the spirit of mutual respect and trust.
“I am convinced that we can effectively step up cooperation in manufacturing, pharmaceutics, agriculture, electric transport, petrochemistry, education, science and technology,” the Belarusian leader stressed.
Aleksandr Lukashenko wished Arif Alvi good health, happiness and success, and the people of Pakistan progress and prosperity.
A center of the All-China Journalists Association and a Gansu Province media center at the Belarusian Union of Journalists have opened in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
The representative office will operate at the Minsk-Novosti news agency. The parties signed an agreement on experience exchange and cooperation. There are plans for exchange visits, internships and other forms of cooperation.
The event was attended by Belarus' First Deputy Information Minister Andrei Kuntsevich. "Today we are actively cooperating at the level of specific media structures. We've concluded agreements on the exchange of experience, on the exchange of content. We discussed a number of areas, a number of specific projects that, in our opinion, can be implemented in the near future. Undoubtedly, it is specific close contacts at the media level that contribute to the development of interstate relations between our states in general," he said.
The head of the Gansu Province print media association Wang Guangqing, stressed that the signing ceremony was a good start for strengthening cooperation between Gansu Province and the Republic of Belarus. "The peoples of the two countries are learning more about each other. Also, the interaction between the media will help further partnership in other areas," he said.
Andrei Krivosheyev, Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Union of Journalists, recalled that a year ago the union entered into a large-scale strategic agreement with the Chinese Journalists Association which unites more than a million colleagues in all provinces of China. "But even then it was noted that without direct agreements between regional and major national media of China and Belarus, this agreement would not be entirely effective. Our largest media are already working to draft direct agreements and direct contracts," he said.

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko invited Brazil to draw up a roadmap for the development of relations and invited Brazil President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to visit Belarus as he met with Brazilian Ambassador to Belarus Bernard Jorg Leopold de Garcia Klingl, BelTA has learned.
"If we take a close look at the Belarusian-Brazilian relations, I must say that they can be much better, both in politics and, first of all, in trade and economy. Trade and economic relations are the basis of any relationship. If we have a strong material interest and a certain connection, then both political and diplomatic relations will be built. As an ambassador, you understand this as well as I do. As a result of today's meeting, we need to agree on specific areas of our cooperation that will bring our relations to a higher level," the Belarusian leader said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said that he had a number of proposals in this regard. "I think that you will convey my proposals to the government, your parliament and, above all, President Lula da Silva. One of my main proposals that I ask you to convey to your president is that we are waiting for him in Belarus. At any convenient time for him. Better in winter. In order for him to see our winter nature. During his visit, we could finally determine the roadmap or plan for our relations. I would like to emphasize once again that the Belarusian leadership is extremely interested in this," the president said.
He emphasized the importance of the current meeting for both Belarus and Brazil.
