Young scientists of different countries should team up and should implement joint projects. Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov made the statement during the international scientific conference of young scientists Youth in Science 2023, BelTA has learned.

Belarus pays close attention to the promotion of youth science and interaction of young scientists from different countries. “The Academy of Sciences offers all kinds of opportunities to young people: scientific conferences are organized as well as science festivals, contests, including 100 Young Talents of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. We try to support young scientists, help them, and contribute to their development since future belongs to them. And it is their job to work hard and purposefully and defend dissertations,” Vladimir Gusakov said.

He also pointed out that the Youth in Science 2023 conference is an international one. “It is a basic conference for the Council of Young Scientists of the International Association of Academies of Sciences (IAAS). The IAAS includes scientific organizations from a number of countries: CIS states, China, Vietnam, and Mongolia. Young scientists should endeavor to team up, to implement joint projects. They can count on our complete support. We never reject requests of young people. We try to come up with acceptable, optimal solutions to any requests and petitions. But you have to primarily count on yourself, on your own labor, determination, and the desire to become a scientist,” the chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus stressed.

The purpose of the 20th international scientific conference of young scientists Youth in Science is to stimulate R&D, innovation potential and present projects and R&D products of young scientists in addition to sharing the best practices and opinions about a broad range of matters. The conference has been organized by the Council of Young Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Taking part in the conference are young scientists, postgraduate students, aspirants, master's students, and university students of Belarus, who work in such fields of science as agrarian sciences, biological sciences, medical sciences, humanities, physics and technology, physics and mathematics, chemistry, and Earth sciences. Young researchers from Russia, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan have also arrived. As many as 13 workshops in different fields of science will work at premises of the Central Scientific Library named after Yakub Kolas of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on 20-21 September. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with Governor of Russia's Krasnodar Territory Veniamin Kondratyev on 19 September and shared details of his recent talks with President of Russia Vladimir Putin in Sochi, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked that today Belarus pays serious attention to the defense industry in view of the latest events in the region and the world. “Together with our elder brother [during recent negotiations of the presidents of Belarus and Russia in Sochi] we agreed how we will act in Belarus. Certainly, we don't want to reveal it in public. Our latest talks in your country were dedicated to defense and security,” the head of state said.

This is why he underlined the importance of joint actions for the sake of reducing the possibility of growing challenges and threats: “Ukraine is only the beginning. We may see worse things if we don't mobilize and don't show to them that we can retaliate well. We and Russia are most of all concerned about Poland. And America stands behind Poland. They have decided to destroy everything in this area. First and foremost, the European Union. Poland is the key foothold. In 2020 they wanted to merge Belarus with Poland and make us a dividing line between Russia, the East, and the West. But they failed. This is why now we pay close attention to defense.”

The agenda of the forthcoming session of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus will include 14 issues, Chairman of the Standing Committee on State Construction, Local Self-Government and Regulations of the House of Representatives Valentin Semenyako told the media on 18 September, BelTA has learned.

“As for the agenda of the session, it is expected to include 14 issues,” Valentin Semenyako said.

Six of them will go through the first reading, four more will be considered at the second reading. “Three relate to international agreements, which the Parliament needs to ratify. Traditionally, we leave one question as a reserve issue in order to consider personnel changes that may occur in the parliamentary corps,” the MP added.

“The first reading will include bills on notary and notarial business, road traffic, procurement of goods (works, services) and also a number of other necessary documents. Four bills will be prepared for consideration in the second reading. They include a bill on a unified state system of recording offenses, a bill on the protection and quarantine of plants, a bill on changing the legislation on health protection and on social protection. All these draft laws are currently in the highest degree of readiness,” Valentin Semenyako emphasized.

The MPs continue to work on the bills in the standing committees. “At the moment there are ten bills under consideration in the House. They will be submitted for consideration of the deputy corps as soon as they are ready, and accordingly, the agenda will be supplemented. All this will help us organize a proper work of our parliament,” the MP said.
